Early American League pass, issued for the 1904 season, signed in black fountain pen on the front by White Sox owner Charles Comiskey. PSA/DNA has encapsulated the pass and graded the signature MINT 9. This is the only 1904 American League season pass we have ever seen and we are aware of just one example that predates it (1903). The fact that this particular pass was issued and signed by Charles Comiskey only adds to its significance. The green pass, printed on cardboard stock, is numbered "160" and features the preprinted lettering "American League Professional Base Ball Clubs - Annual Pass - To All Grounds 1904." The stamped, facsimile signature of American League president Ban Johnson appears at the base. The name of the recipient, "Ben Nichols," is handwritten in black ink directly above Comiskey's signature, upon whose account the pass was issued. The reverse features the names of each American League City, as well as the admonishment that "This Pass Is Not Transferable." The pass (3.75 x 2.25 inches) displays light handling wear and is in Excellent condition overall. Reserve $500. Estimate (open).
