For any kid growing up in the late 1950s or 1960s, a stop at the stadium souvenir stand normally included the purchase of a "Picture Pak," which was a group of black-and-white photos picturing members of the local team. While we see "Picture Paks" of Major League Baseball teams fairly often, this is the first opportunity we have had to offer a rare 1958 Omaha Cardinals Minor League Baseball near-complete set (23 out of 24 cards), featuring the first baseball card of Hall of Fame pitcher Bob Gibson. Missing only the header card for completion. The photo cards (3-3/8 x 4-3/8 inches) are technically in modest condition due to back-related issues: glue and extra paper at each corner, along with each player's name written in pencil. Viewed from the front, the cards display as Vg-Ex to Ex. Overall, a very presentable lower-grade complete set (minus one) of this scarce minor league team issue. Total: 23 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
