Graded VG-EX+ 4.5 by PSA (submitted by REA). Extremely attractive mid-grade example of the 1952 Topps #311 Mickey Mantle. One of card collecting's great classics, Mantle's Topps rookie card is the key to the 1952 Topps set, one of the most famous of all cards, and the single most popular and valuable postwar baseball card. The offered example is bright and crisp, with outstanding centering and light touches of wear on the square corners. The reverse is entirely clean with bold printing. This is a tremendous mid-grade example with strong visual appeal! It would not look out of place in a PSA 5 holder, in our opinion. This card was one of the highlights of an untouched childhood collection consigned to this auction! The 1952 Topps #311 Mickey Mantle has long been universally recognized as one of most iconic "blue chips" of all vintage baseball cards, and even just a glance at sales records clearly shows that over the years it has consistently risen in value in all grades. This card presents an outstanding opportunity to acquire an exceptionally attractive example of Mickey Mantle's most celebrated card in an extremely desirable condition, yet very possibly at a small fraction of the cost of a higher-grade example. Reserve $10,000. Estimate (open).
