Collection of eighteen 1888-1889 Allen & Ginter tobacco cards, including four baseball players, composed of fourteen 1888 N28 Allen & Ginter "World's Champions," and four 1889 N29 Allen & Ginter "World's Champions Second Series." Each card in this collection displays pencil marks on its reverse. The following grades are without further reference to the pencil marks. 1) 1888 N28 Allen & Ginter (14 cards): Acton (wrestler, Fr-Gd), Bogardus (rifle shooter, Pr), Bubear (oarsman, Pr), Caruthers (baseball, Pr), Cody (rifle shooter, corners trimmed off), Dion (billiards, Pr), Gaudaur (oarsman, Gd), Lannon (boxer, Pr), Mitchell (boxer, Pr), Muldoon (pencil also on front, otherwise Gd), Mulvey (baseball, Pr), Vignaux (billiards, Pr), Ward (baseball, Vg), and Weir (boxer, Pr). 2) 1889 N29 Allen & Ginter (4 cards): East (oarsman, Vg), Fogarty (baseball, Vg), McCormack (skater, Fr), and Ross (all-around athlete, Vg).
