Graded VG 3 by PSA (submitted by REA). Magnificent example of Mickey Mantle's true rookie card. One of card collecting's greatest classics, Mantle's Bowman rookie card is the key to the 1951 Bowman set, and one of the most popular and significant of all postwar baseball cards. This is one of the highlights of an original-owner collection consigned to this auction! This striking example has four square corners with just the slightest hint of wear, vibrant colors, and centering very slightly to the bottom. A small crease near the bottom border as well as a faint crease visible on the reverse account for the modest assigned grade. Extremely clean with no distracting print lines that are so commonly found with this card. The back is also clean, with no wax stains. This is a very appealing example in a particularly desirable grade for a Mantle rookie card. In lesser condition, this card always sells for a respectable sum because Mantle's rookie card is always in great demand in any condition; however, the card's value rises rapidly as its grade increases. An exceptionally attractive example that represents a particularly outstanding value for this all-time classic Mantle card . Reserve $1,500. Estimate $3,000+.
