Outstanding collection of fifty-four vintage boxing-cards dating from 1901 and representing six different series produced by Ogden's Ltd. This collection includes scarce cards of boxing greats Peter Jackson and Tim Burge, as well as several additional notable highlights. In addition to being among the earliest of all boxing-card issues, the Ogden's cards are considered by many serious collectors to be among the most difficult of all vintage boxing-card issues to collect in high grade. Their black border design makes these cards extremely susceptible to damage. This is an extraordinary collection of these important and early boxing-card rarities in high grade! This lot consists of the following: 1) Guinea Gold (2 cards): #270 Tim Burge (SGC Authentic due to color added, otherwise Ex) and 286 Peter Jackson (SGC Authentic due to a slight trim and a tiny spot of color added, otherwise Ex). 2) "420 Subjects" (1 card): #384 Pat Daly (color added, otherwise Vg). 3) Series "A" Complete Boxing Subset (17): Condition is seven Vg-Ex, five Vg, and five with color added (otherwise averaging Vg+ and including one that is also trimmed). Keys: #84 Jeffries (Vg-Ex+), 86 Sullivan (color added, otherwise Ex), and 89 Corbett (color added, otherwise Vg). 4) Series "B" Complete Boxing Subset (5): Condition is Ex, Vg-Ex, and three Vg. Key: #79 Sullivan (Vg-Ex/Ex). 5) Series "F" Complete Boxing Subset (15): Condition is three Ex, four Vg-Ex, four Vg, and four with color added (otherwise averaging Vg-Ex). Key: #210 Jeffries (Vg-Ex+). 6) "General Interest" Complete Boxing Subset (14): Condition is Ex-Mt, six Ex, four Vg-Ex, two Vg, and one with color added. Classic vintage cards of the sporting world's greatest boxing legends can still be reasonably priced and represent a tremendous collecting value! This is an outstanding collection worthy of any advanced boxing-card collection. Total: 54 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate (open).
