Johnny Unitas salesman's sample 1970 Baltimore Colts championship ring commemorating the Colts' victory over the Dallas Cowboys in Super Bowl V. This ring, manufactured by Jostens for use by the company's sales personnel, is virtually identical to the actual rings presented to the Colts players and executives in 1970, but is made with 10K gold instead of 14K gold, and features a CZ instead of a diamond. The front of the ring features a single CZ set upon a blue stone, around which is displayed the team's "horseshoe" logo. The words "Baltimore Colts - World Champions" are engraved in raised relief along the front perimeter. The right shank features a depiction of the Super Bowl trophy, the year ("1970") and game's logo ("Super Bowl V"). The left shank features a depiction of a Colts helmet, above which is engraved the name "Johnny Unitas" Below the helmet is the score of the game "Colts-16 - Cowboys-13." Engraved along the interior of the ring is the serial number ("B3672"), along with "Jostens - 10K." Salesman's sample rings are scarce because they were expensive sales tool which, understandably, were not given away as promotional gifts. They are very popular with collectors when available, and represent a relatively affordable alternative to the virtually identical rings owned by the players. Near Mint condition. Approximate Size: 11.25. Weight: 39 grams. Reserve $500. Estimate (open).
