Double-sided Winchester advertising display issued in promotion of both the company's football and firearms line of goods. One side of the large cardboard sign (18.25 x 40 inches) features images of a football helmet, football, and football shoulder pads. The other pictures the Winchester "Model 12 Hammerless Repeating Shotgun." As noted in print along the top of each side, Winchester instructed merchants when to display each side" "Football Goods Display to be shown week September 7 to September 13," "Shotgun Display to be shown week September 14 to September 30." This is a rare Winchester advertising display and the first example we have offered. Its rarity notwithstanding, it is also in a remarkable state of preservation. With the exception of light corner wear and minor print residue on the football side, the piece remains in Excellent to Mint condition, looking much as it did when originally displayed.
