Football Cards or Memorabilia
Offered is a fascinating and particularly unusual complete set of eight 1976 Topps Football uncut color-process proof sheets, highlighted by the rookie card of Chicago Bears Hall of Famer Walter Payton. We have seen other 1976 Topps football color-process proof sheets but this is the first complete 1976 Topps football set in uncut color-process proof sheet form (each of the eight different sheets comprise a set) that we have ever offered. Each sheet is arranged in six rows of eleven cards with color-spectrum lines along the bottom margin. Crop marks are also visible in all four margins. All of the cards appear as they would in final production when viewed; however, several of the cards (in some cases players from the Chiefs, Cowboys, Dolphins, Raiders, etc.) feature their respective team name printed in a different color than what appears on the final-issue card. The backs of the sheets are blank. These sheets were used by the printer for the purpose of checking colors, registration, and generally proofing the cards before final production began. Each sheet is bright and clean, both front and back, with light wear on the corners and edges, and a few light creases and/or wrinkles. Dimensions: each sheet is 29 x 33 inches. Total: 8 uncut sheets. The substantial size/weight of this item requires that there will be an shipping charge for this lot. Reserve $1,000. Estimate (open).
