Ryne Sandberg Rawlings/Adirondack block-letter (full name) model "256B" bat dating from the 1996 season. Graded GU 10 by PSA/DNA. The bat, which is not cracked, displays heavy use along its entire length, including numerous ball marks (with blue-ink transfers) and ball-stitch impressions, and a light coat of pine tar on the handle. Stamped on the knob are the model number ("256B"), the order number ("499"), and the year ("96"). Also on the knob are Sandberg's uniform number ("23"), written in blue marker, and the name, "Sandberg," written in blue ink. Sandberg has signed the bat in black Sharpie (grading "8") on the sweet spot of the barrel. 1996 was Sandberg's penultimate season in the Majors and he finished the year with 25 home runs, 92 RBI, and a .244 average. Sandberg was one of the top second baseman of his era. Including among his many achievements were the 1984 National League MVP Award, nine consecutive Gold Glove Awards, and 10 All-Star Game selections. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2005.
