San Francisco Giants home jersey worn by Hall of Fame slugger Orlando Cepeda in 1963. Graded A9.5 by MEARS. Orlando Cepeda San Francisco Giants jerseys are scarce. This is the first we have ever offered and we cannot recall having seen more than three others at auction in the past 15 years. The white flannel jersey is lettered "Giants" across the front and features the number "30" on the reverse. All letters and numerals are appliquéd in black felt on orange tackle twill. The name "Cepeda" is chain-stitched in black upon a white strip tag in the collar. Located on the left front tail are a "McAuliffe" label, a "63" year tag, and a "44" size tag. Cepeda has inscribed the jersey, “Orlando Cepeda/HOF 99,” in black Sharpie (grading “8”) on the left front tail. The jersey is original as issued, with no alterations, and displays heavy wear, including partial separation of the name tag in the collar. Cepeda batted .316 with 34 home runs and 97 RBI in 1963. He retired in 1974 with 379 home runs, 1,365 RBI, and a .297 batting average. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1999. Graded A9.5 by MEARS (base grade of 10, with a half point deducted for the partial separation of the name tag). LOA from Dave Grob/MEARS (for the jersey only).
