In 1983 Major League Baseball celebrated the 50th anniversary of its annual All-Star Game by holding the game at the same venue in which it began: Chicago's Comiskey Park. To commemorate the event, every living participant in a former All-Star Game was invited back to Comiskey Park to take part in the festivities. Offered here are two baseballs signed by a total of 50 former All-Star players, including a few Negro League stars. Forty of the 50 players represented are Hall of Famers. One ball mainly features the signatures of former American League All-Stars, and the other mainly features the signatures of former National League All-Stars.1) American League. Twenty-seven blue-ink signatures (averaging "8") on an official 1983 All-Star Game ball: Joe DiMaggio (blue marker), Bill Skowron, Don Larsen, Waite Hoyt, Larry Doby, Tony Oliva, Bob Lemon (twice), Bill Dickey, Bobby Richardson, Harmon Killebrew, Luke Appling, Lefty Gomez, Luis Aparicio, Jim Bunning, Charlie Gehringer, Rick Ferrell, Brooks Robinson, George Kell, Roger Maris, Buck Leonard, Hoyt Wilhelm, Joe Sewell, Bob Feller, Ben Chapman, and Bobby Doerr (black ink). 2) National League. Twenty-three blue-ink signatures (averaging "8") on an official 1983 All-Star Game ball: Burleigh Grimes (sweet spot), Leo Durocher (black ink; sweet spot), Ernie Banks, Orlando Cepeda, Judy Johnson, Edd Roush, Jocko Conlan, Don Drysdale, Travis Jackson, Johnny Mize, Red Schoendienst, Duke Snider, Carl Hubbell, Enos Slaughter, Pee Wee Reese, Juan Marichal, Don Kessinger, Lou Boudreau, Ralph Kiner, Buck Leonard, Monte Irvin, Warren Spahn, and Bill Mazeroski.
