Rawlings "Playmaker" baseball signed in black ink (grading "6/7") on a side panel by Hall of Fame pitcher Dizzy Dean. While we do not know exactly when this ball was signed, it almost certainly dates to Dean's post-playing career, when he was gaining a brand-new fan base as one of the game's most popular television and radio color analysts. Dean died in 1974, before single-signed balls had become the ideal for most autograph collectors. As a result, Dean singles are scarcer than one would imagine. This is one of fewer than 10 we have offered in the past 15 years The ball displays light toning and soiling, as well as a few minor abrasions. In Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
