Four-page fold-over contract, dated May 29, 1929, between Eddie Moore and the Brooklyn National League Baseball Club, Inc., signed in black fountain pen by “Eddie Moore” (grading “9”), team president and manager “Wilbert Robinson” (“10”), and National League president John Heydler (“9”). The one-year agreement calls for Moore to receive $6,000 for the 1929 season. While Moore enjoyed a fine ten-year Major League career, spent mostly as a reserve infielder, it is the signature of Wilbert Robinson that holds significance for autograph collectors today. Robinson was one of the top players of his era and a key member of the legendary Baltimore Orioles in the 1890s. Following his playing career he enjoyed a long managerial career with Brooklyn (1914-1931), where he won two pennants. Robinson died in 1934 and was elected the Hall of Fame posthumously in 1945, which has resulted in the demand of his signature today. This is one of only four Wilbert Robinson signed contracts of any kind that we have ever offered. The contract (8.5 x 11 inches) displays two horizontal folds, minor edge tears, and discoloration on the back cover. In Very Good condition overall. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate (open).
