1924-1930 New York Yankees Check Collection (3) - Each Signed by Ruppert and Barrow

Collection of three New York Yankees checks (9 x 3.25 inches), spanning the years 1924-1930, each signed on the front in black fountain pen by team owner Jacob Ruppert and genera manager Ed Barrow. Signatures range from "7" to "10," averaging "8/9." Each check displays normal bank cancellation stamps and holes. 1) Payroll check, dated July 7, 1924, made out to "Lawton Witt" (nicknamed "Whitey) in the amount of $679. Endorsed by Witt on the reverse in black fountain pen. Vg, with three vertical folds and a few light crease. 2) Check, dated September 19, 1930, made out to "Madison Square Garden Corporation" in the amount of $315. A stamped endorsement appears on the reverse. A typed notation on the reverse indicates that amount represents payment in full for 20 ringside tickets to the "Sharkey-Campollo Boxing Show on Sept. 25th, 1930." Vg-Ex, with a vertical fold and diagonal crease in the upper left corner. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, with the signatures certified as "Authentic." 3) Payroll check, dated September 27, 1930, issued to "Robert E. Walsh" in the amount of $746.66. Endorsed by Walsh in black fountain pen on the reverse. A typed notation on the reverse reads "Salary in full for Season of 1930." Robert Walsh was the youngest son of Hall of Fame pitcher Ed Walsh. The younger Walsh joined the Yankees in spring training but did not make the team and never appeared in a regular-season game with the club. He played a few years in the minors, but never made the Majors. Vg-Ex, with a vertical fold and a few light creases. Total: 3 checks.
