Presented is an extremely attractive and for this issue high-grade complete set of 1973 Topps Candy Lids, plus two original containers of Topps "Baseball Stars Bubble Gum," the product with which the lids were distributed. A colorful portrait of one of fifty-five stars and Hall of Famers of the day is found on the bottom of each lid, with advertising for "Baseball Stars Gum" on the top. An impressive twenty-five Hall of Famers (plus Pete Rose) highlight this set. Condition is 33% Nr/Mt or better, 49% Ex to Ex-Mt, and 18% Vg to Vg-Ex, with the standard number of centering issues common to this set. Keys: Aaron (Ex), Bench (98/2 centering, otherwise Nr/Mt), Brock (Ex-Mt), Carew (Nr/Mt), Carlton (Nr/Mt), Jackson (85/15 centering otherwise Nr/Mt), Kaline (80/20 centering, otherwise Nr/Mt), Killebrew (85/15 centering otherwise Nr/Mt), Mays (Nr/Mt), McCovey (Ex-Mt), Munson (Ex-Mt), B. Robinson (Nr/Mt), F. Robinson (Nr/Mt), Rose (Nr/Mt+), Ryan (85/15 centering, otherwise Ex-Mt), Seaver (Nr/Mt), Yaz (85/15 centering, otherwise Ex-Mt). The two scarce "Baseball Stars Bubble Gum" containers (cardboard cup, face-down "card" lid, and plastic outer lid) present in Excellent condition overall, with one still containing the original bubble gum! The empty container obviously was opened at one time, but even the container with gum should not be considered to be factory sealed.
