Program from the heavyweight championship boxing match between champion Joe Louis and Billy Conn held at the Polo Grounds in New York on June 18, 1941. Conn almost made history that night by becoming the first lightweight heavyweight champion to win the heavyweight championship. Shockingly, Conn was well ahead on points entering the 13th round and only needed to stay away from the champion to take his crown. Instead, Conn pressed the issue and paid for his poor decision by being knocked out in the 13th round. The 16-page program (9 x 11.25 inches) is not scored and displays light water staining. In Very Good condition overall. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
