Graded GOOD+ 35 by SGC. Extremely attractive example of Babe Ruth from the 1926-1929 postcard-back Exhibit-style set. Ruth is depicted in an ideal batting follow-through pose. The card is bright and crisp with moderate creasing and even wear to the corners. The postcard back has no writing and has never been mailed. The 1926-1929 Exhibit-style cards look like Exhibit cards and were sold in penny-arcade machines like Exhibit cards, but were in fact issued by an unknown competitor of The Exhibit Supply Company. While the company that issued this set is not identified on the cards, it is interesting to note that the cards do have text, in a small font, which reads "Not To Be Used in Exhibit Machines" on the reverse. It is likely that this warning was the result of some type of legal settlement between the two companies regarding the use of Exhibit machines. This a very attractive example, offering an outstanding value compared to many other cards from Ruth's playing days. Reserve $400. Estimate $1,000+.
