Presented is a rarely-offered complete 24-card set of R56 "Funnies" issued in 1934 by the General Gum Company of Chicago and accompanied by an original wax wrapper and celluloid screen (available only via redemption). These fascinating novelty cards were designed to produce an action scene when a celluloid screen is placed over the card. The backs have a brief description of the illustrated picture on the front. Condition of the set is one Nr/Mt, four Ex-Mt, five Ex, nine Vg-Ex, four Vg, and one Gd. The scarce wrapper is in modest condition overall, but still a very desirable companion piece to the set. This is the first complete set of this issue that we have ever offered. Total: 24 cards plus one wax wrapper and one celluloid screen. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+.
