Original Seinfeld table-reading script, for the episode titled "The Invitations," signed on the cover by all four primary cast members, plus seven additional cast and crew members, including writer/creator Larry David and Yankees team owner George Steinbrenner! The 11 signatures, all of which have been boldly scripted in black Sharpie (grading "10"), are those of Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Michael Richards, Jason Alexander, Larry David, George Steinbrenner (he played himself in this episode), Andy Ackerman (director), Lee Bear (played George Steinbrenner from behind in most episodes), Heidi Swedberg (Susan, George's fiancee), Janeane Garofalo (guest star, Jerry's girlfriend), and Victor Raider-Wexler (played Susan's doctor). This script comes with the special provenance of originating directly from Dave Pierce, who for over seven seasons served as the Transportation Coordinator on Seinfeld. In his accompanying one-page typed-signed letter of provenance, Pierce goes into great detail regarding the history and rarity of this piece (Pierce's full letter can be viewed on our website). "The Invitations" was the 24th and final episode of Season 7, and the last regular-season episode written by Larry David (David left the series after season 7, but returned two years later to pen the series finale). What makes this signed script so special is the inclusion of both Larry David and George Steinbrenner. According to Pierce, Larry David rarely, if ever, consented to sign scripts during his tenure on the show. Also, although he was a frequent character on the show, Steinbrenner was played on air by Lee Bear (seen only from behind) and voiced by Larry David. This episode was the only one in which he actually appeared as himself. Unfortunately, his three scenes were cut from the final on-air production, but they were later restored on the DVD version. Pierce writes in part: Mr. Steinbrenner's signature was very difficult to obtain when the Production Department passed around the few Script Covers to be signed. Jerry asked Mr. Steinbrenner and he finally consented. This forced Larry's hand and he signed only because of Mr. Steinbrenner. Larry never signed Scripts after Table Readings. If you'ver ever seen "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and laughed at the way Larry David reacts in certain situations? Well, that character is 99% the real Larry David! Larry's a Comic Genius, and Very Quirky indeed! Trying to obtain Larry's autograph back in his "Seinfeld" days was near to impossible. Only a handful (6-9) of these scripts were signed! Rare is an understatement when it comes to this Original Signed Seinfeld Collectable! This episode, which revolved around George trying to get out of his impending wedding, was also the final one for the character of Susan, George's fiancee, who dies after licking toxic glue from their wedding invitations. Other story lines involve Kramer attempting to get $100 from his bank because the teller didn't say "Hello," and Elaine not wanting to sit at the singles table at the wedding. The 81-page script (8.5 x 11 inches), numbered "04-0724" and dated "March 31, 1996," displays light wear and remains in Near Mint condition. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Reserve $2,500. Estimate (open).
