Postwar Baseball - 1960s Cards
Presented is a three-ring binder housing 173 1964 Topps baseball cards from the files of the Topps Company, preserved and displayed in a very unique manner. This particular binder was originally designed to house two examples of each card from #177 to 264, and all are present except the front examples of #179, 225 Maris, and 230 B. Robinson. Included are such highlights as Sandy Koufax, Harmon Killebrew, Nellie Fox, Carl Yastrzemski, Roger Maris, Brooks Robinson, Tony LaRussa rookie, Al Kaline, and Frank Robinson. These are the actual file-copy cards kept by Topps for its archives. This binder was purchased at the famous 1989 Topps/Guernsey's auction. Each page in the binder displays six cards (three different cards, displaying the front and back of each card) neatly mounted by means of glue on the reverse. One single page displays only two cards - the front and back of card #264 Jim Landis. The cards are pack-fresh, right off the printing press, and (aside from being mounted) grade Nr/Mt overall. These cards naturally have a special historical significance as Topps file cards. In recent years, Topps has offered file cards and pages removed from albums individually (those not sold at the 1989 Topps auction) through The Topps Vault (on eBay) and these cards have sold for significant premiums. The cards could be professionally removed if desired. Total: 173 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
