Graded NM 7 by PSA. Presented is an exceptionally high-grade example of this classic rookie card of Hall of Fame pitcher Warren Spahn. Spahn went on to win 363 games, but when this card was issued in 1948 he was at the very beginning of a spectacular career that would eventually include thirteen 20-game winning seasons and last well into the mid-1960s. This is a very strong card in all respects, with a perfectly crisp image with flawless registration. The portrait of Spahn practically jumps off the striking orange background. Perfectly clean front and back, with four sharp corners, centered slightly to the left, and with clean off-white borders. The reverse is also clean and free of all staining and excess print (which can sometimes be a problem with 1948 Leafs). This is an extremely attractive high-grade Warren Spahn rookie card. Many consider this Warren Spahn's single most desirable baseball card. A classic postwar rookie card that has always been a favorite with collectors and one that is rarely found in such high grade. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+.
