Topps and Lollapalooza partnered for a set of trading cards intended to promote the 2013 Lollapalooza festival at Chicago's Grant Park. The promotional set had 29 cards, an Instant Win prize card (which was good for three-day passes to the festival), and a Wrapper/Header card. Highlights include: The Killers, Imagine Dragons, Ellie Goudling, Mumford & Sons, and New Order. The offered forty-eight card uncut sheet features a complete set plus duplicates and triplicates of twelve of the cards. Also included on the sheet in the style of the 1974 Topps Baseball design is an unreleased card of the artist Flying Lotus for which we were not able to find any available information. In a very limited release, the Topps Lollapalooza trading cards were given out in wax packs at Wrigleyville outside of Wrigley Field during the Cubs' home opener on April 8. 2013. Designs mimic past Topps baseball card sets (1959, 1960, 1971, 1973-1975, 1979, 1982, 1987, and 1990), giving them the feel of a Topps Archives set. For nearly all of the performers and bands included, this was very likely their first appearance on a trading card. Twenty-nine of the performers and bands scheduled for the festival that ran from August 2-4, 2013 were included in the set. The forty-eight card sheet consists of the following: two Alt-J, Band of Horses, Azealia Banks, two Beach House, three Charles Bradley, two Cat Power, Family of the Year, two Dillon Francis, two The Dunwells, Ellie Goudling, Flux Pavillion, three GRiZ., Grizzly Bear, three Guards, Imagine Dragons, The Killers, Local Natives, The Lumineers, Major Lazer, two Matt & Kim, Mumford & Sons, two The Neighbourhood, New Order, Phoenix, The Postal Service, three Smith Westerns, Thievery Corporation, Vampire Weekend, and two Wake Owl. Also on the sheet are one each of the Instant Win prize card and Wrapper/Header card, and an unreleased card of Flying Lotus. The sheet displays a bend on the upper right corner (likely from storage), otherwise it appears Near Mint. While the set of single cards is very difficult to piece together based upon the method of release, this is an opportunity to add a complete set in uncut sheet form to an advanced music memorabilia collection, or simply as a striking piece to frame and display. Dimensions: 24 x 25 inches. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
