Very attractive signed example of this popular Hall of Fame rookie card featuring Sammy Baugh from the 1948 Leaf Football set. Signed by Baugh in blue Sharpie along the right side of the card (signature grades '9'), the offered card features vibrant colors, four corners with light even wear, and excellent registration (which can often be a problem with cards from this set). The centering is slightly to the top left. PSA has graded the card VG-EX 4. Just as the cards in the 1948-1949 Leaf baseball series are much rarer than Bowman and Topps cards from the late 1940s and early 1950s, Leaf Football cards are also rarer than almost all other postwar football issues. They are also very distinctive, with an unusual and very colorful design that has always been a favorite with collectors. A beautiful signed example of one of the keys to the set, and one of Sammy Baugh's most desirable cards. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
