Complete set of all eighteen Hartland Major League baseball players. The Hartland Company's series of baseball statues, issued from 1958 to 1963, are the most sought after sports personality figures ever made. They are so well crafted that the fans of each player can easily recognize their favorite by his stance or pose alone. Each statue was originally designed to retail for $1.98 to $2.50. In 1958 dollars that equates to about $20.00 to $25.00 today, so it understandable that most purchases of Hartlands were for special occasions, and most kids had no more than a few of them. There are numerous rarities in this set, as the later-issued figures such as Groat and Colavito were issued in far more modest numbers than the earlier figures. All eighteen offered statues display a few typical minor surface blemishes and/or scratches and are in Excellent to Excellent to Mint condition overall with the exception of Mantle (repaired break in his left arm at the elbow) and Aparicio (toe plate broken). All are complete with their original bat (if applicable) and Berra is complete with his mask. The set is composed of Eddie Mathews, Dick Groat, Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Rocky Colavito, Duke Snider, Don Drysdale, Harmon Killebrew, Warren Spahn, Stan Musial, Nellie Fox, Ted Williams, Babe Ruth, Luis Aparicio, Roger Maris, Ernie Banks, Mickey Mantle, and Yogi Berra. This is a beautiful and very well-preserved complete set of these attractive and popular figurines, all of which remain ideal for display as intended. Total 18 statues. The substantial size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000+.
