Rare full ticket to the 1948 Negro League All-Star Game, held at Yankee Stadium on August 24th. Encapsulated and graded NM 7 by PSA. This is the only example graded at this level, with just one graded higher. This ticket was issued for the second of two Negro League All-Star Games played in 1948. This was just the second Negro League All-Star Game ever played at Yankee Stadium, as the game was traditionally held at Comiskey Park in Chicago (the location of the first All-Star Game that year). Played during the first year of integration in Major League Baseball, the game attracted a sparse crowd of 17,928, who witnessed the Eastern All-Stars defeat their Western rivals 6-1. Interestingly, the printing along the base of the ticket warns patrons about a possible scheduling conflict in the event of rain: "The COLORED ALL-STAR DREAM GAME is scheduled to be played on the Night of August 24. In the event of RAIN it will be played on the night of August 25. In the event, the Yankee-Chicago game scheduled for the Night of August 23 is rained out, the game will be played on August 24, thereby postponing the All-Star Game to the Night of August 25." 6 x 2.75 inches. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
