1933 R319 Goudey #144 Babe Ruth, signed by Ruth in pencil across his image. PSA/DNA has graded the signature NM-MT 8 and certified the card as "Authentic." This is one of the many highlights in an extraordinary near-complete collection of signed 1933 Goudey cards featured in this auction, which includes two additional Ruth cards (#'s 53 and 181) and one Gehrig (#92). As most collectors are aware, Ruth-signed 1933 Goudey cards are scarce. Those featuring high-grade signature examples are rarer still. Card #144, which features the Babe in his classic follow-through batting pose, is widely considered to be the quintessential Babe Ruth bubble-gum card. Goudey must have also appreciated the beauty of this card, because of all the cards in the set this is the one it chose to double print when replacing the missing card #106 during production. Today, it remains one of Ruth's most popular and most recognizable baseball cards. The card has been trimmed along the bottom border, resulting in the removal of the "Big League Chewing Gum" text; otherwise it is in Very Good to Excellent condition overall.
