Exceedingly rare signed example of one of the most iconic postwar Hall of Fame trade cards: 1948-1949 Leaf #79 Jackie Robinson. PSA/DNA has encapsulated the card and certified the signature as "Authentic." Robinson's signature has been scripted in black fountain pen across his image and grades "5/6" overall (portions of the signature contrast poorly against the background of his face). 1948-1949 Leaf is Robinson's rookie card and considered by many to be one of the most popular, striking, and classic of all Jackie Robinson cards. Signed examples, however, are practically nonexistent. This is the first Jackie Robinson signed rookie card we have offered and we have seen only one other offered at auction in the past twenty years. The card has been deemed "Altered" by PSA, most likely for possible restoration to the upper left corner. The card also displays adhesive stains in each corner and a slight crease. Reserve $2,500.
