Rarely offered example of Los Angeles Dodgers Hall of Famer Sandy Koufax, one of the the key cards to the 1959 Topps Venezuelan set. The Topps Venezuelan issues are among the most fascinating sets of the late 1950s and 1960s. The first 196 cards of Topps’ 1959 baseball set were reprinted on a non-glossy cardboard stock for sale exclusively in the Venezuelan market. The fronts are identical in design to the regular-issue Topps’ cards, but the backs are darker than normal and the credit line “Impreso En Venezuela Por Benco C.A." is printed along the bottom edge. Graded VG 3 by PSA, the card displays minor surface wear, evenly rounded corners, and centering toward the far right. The reverse of the card is clean and centered to the extreme bottom. Though they receive little attention because they are virtually never found in high grade, Topps Venezuelan cards are among the most unusual and rare baseball-card sets of the decade. This is an extremely pleasing Venezuelan example of Hall of Famer Sandy Koufax, and one that would be a highlight in any Topps Venezuelan or type-card collection.
