Graded EX-MT 6 by PSA. Extremely attractive high-grade example of this short-printed "Rare Leaf" rookie card featuring Hall of Fame pitcher Hal Newhouser. The 1948-1949 Leaf Bubble Gum card of Newhouser is the most popular and striking of all his cards. It is also a genuine rarity, being one of the forty-nine “Rare Leaf” cards in the 1948-1949 Leaf Gum Co. set. The offered card is an exceptional example. The card is bright and clean, with four sharp corners, and bold colors. The image is centered to the top and slightly out-of-register (centering and minor registration issues are very common problems encountered with this series). The reverse is clean and free of all staining or excess print, and is centered slightly to the left. This is a very attractive high-grade example of Newhouser’s most classic card, worthy of the finest 1948-1949 Leaf set and a key rarity for an advanced Hall of Famer rookie-card collection. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500+.
