Rarely offered complete set of twenty-five cards (2.25 x 3.5 inches) from the T70 "Historical Events Series" including the extremely desirable tri-fold card of "The Signing of the Declaration of Independence." Issued in 1911, "Historical Events Series" is one of the most highly regarded and popular of all 1910-era nonsports sets. Each of the card fronts features a beautiful full-color lithograph of a great event in American history. The back of each card features a summary of the historical event pictured on the front and an advertisement for various tobacco brands. Condition is as follows: Two cards grade Vg-Ex, four Vg, nine Gd, and ten Fr (including some due to pencil marks on the reverse). Key: "The Signing of the Declaration of Independence" tri-fold card (technically Pr-Fr due to three-fourths separation of the left fold, heavy wear to the right fold and a pencil notation on the reverse, otherwise clean and crease-free). Also included with the set are three smaller variation cards: Washington at Valley Forge (Gd), Custers Last Rally (Ex+), and The Landing of the Pilgrims (Vg-Ex). The tobacco brands represented in this set are Hoffman House Magnums Cigars, Flexo Giants Little Cigars, Buffo Little Cigars, and Just Suits Cut Plug. This is an extremely attractive complete set with outstanding eye-appeal. The "Historical Events Series" are highly prized by both historical collectors and nonsport tobacco-card collectors.
