Ticket stub issued for the first-ever Chicago Charities College All-Star Game held at Soldier Field in Chicago on August 31, 1934. Graded GOOD 2 by PSA. This is one of only 3 examples evaluated by PSA and the only one graded at this level (both of the other examples are graded VG-EX 4, but have qualifiers). The Chicago Charities College All-Star Game was the brainchild of Arch Ward, sports editor of the Chicago Tribune. One year earlier Ward had come up with the idea of the Major League All-Star Game and this football game was a natural extension. The annual game matched the defending NFL champions vs. an all-star team of college seniors from the previous season, with the proceeds going to Chicago-area charities. The first game in 1934, between the Bears and college all stars ended in a 0-0 tie. The game continued for decades before ending in 1976. 3 x 2 inches. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+.
