Postwar Baseball - 1950s Cards
Superb collection of fifty-seven cards from the classic 1952 Topps set, each graded and encapsulated by PSA. The 1952 Topps set has always been one of card collecting's most revered sets. It shares this honor with only a handful of classic baseball card issues such as T206, Cracker Jack, and 1933 Goudey. It is the premier postwar baseball card set. This collection is highlighted by Hall of Famers Phil Rizzuto, Robin Roberts, and Monte Irvin, as well as several low-number back variations. PSA Grading Composite: EX-MT 6 (11 cards): #38 (black back), 51 (black back), 53 (black back), 64 (black back), 75 (black back), 112, 116, 117, 127, 203, and 222. EX+ 5.5 (4 cards): #41 (black back), 218, 269, and 302. EX 5 (22 cards): #11 Rizzuto (HOF, black back), 18 (black back), 25 (black back), 34 (black back), 55, 77 (black back), 102, 109, 118, 168, 173, 188, 209, 222, 232, 239, 259, 263, 281, 290, 292, and 298. VG-EX+ 4.5 (4 cards): #17 (black back), 40, 59 Roberts (HOF), and 74 (black back). VG-EX 4 (13 cards): #3, 4 (black back), 5, 10 Rosen (black back), 15, 21 (black back), 26 Irvin (HOF, black back), 45, 49b Sain (correct bio, black back), 58, 60 (black back), 68, and 80 Wehmeier (black back). VG 3 (3 cards): Two #2 Runnels (one black back and one red back) and 42. This is a very attractive collection of mid-grade 1952 Topps cards that would serve as an outstanding foundation for, or contributions to, the assembly of a complete set of this landmark issue. The SMR value for just thirty-seven of the cards (excluding the twenty cards graded less than EX for which there is no SMR) is $1,711. Total: 57 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $1,000+.
