Real-photo postcard of Hall of Fame pitcher Rube Marquard as a member of the New York Giants. This rare postcard, which pictures Marquard warming up on the sideline, is notable for the fact that it was taken during the 1911 World Series. Although the postcard is not captioned as such or dated, the all-black uniform worn by Marquard was specially produced for use only during the 1911 fall classic. The printing along the bottom white border identifies Marquard (name is misspelled "Maraquard") and his team affiliation ("N. Y. Giants"). The number "743" and the photographer's credit, "Underwood & Underwood. N. Y.," are also printed along the base. The postcard (3.5 x 5.5 inches), which is not addressed or mailed, displays only modest handling wear and is in Excellent to Mint condition overall. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
