Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. This is one of only six examples graded at this level by PSA with just two examples graded higher. Stunning high-grade example of Hall of Famer John Ward from the N28 Allen & Ginter "World's Champions" set. N28 Allen & Ginter "World's Champions" are considered by many to be the most beautiful of all nineteenth-century tobacco-card issues. The offered example is bright, crisp, and clean, with a striking image and vibrant colors. Four sharp corners with just a hint of wear visible at the extreme tips. Upon close inspection with magnification there is a tiny corner bend on the lower left (mentioned strictly for accuracy). The checklist reverse is bright and clean. This is a very attractive high-grade example of one of John Ward's most popular cards from nineteenth-century card-collecting's most popular set. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,500++.
