When Playboy magazine debuted on newsstands in December 1953, few realized at the time how iconic the magazine would become. While the Marilyn Monroe cover of that classic first issue helped attract attention to the new publication, it was the magazine's standard format of provocative articles, high-quality literature, and, of course, photos of the female form that kept readers coming back for more. Offered here are eleven issues of Playboy magazine, each dating from 1955, which represent a complete run from this year as no March 1955 issue was produced. Ten of the issues (excluding April) have a small "1955" written in blue ink on the cover (mostly in the upper right corner or near the month) but otherwise present in overall Excellent condition. The April issue has moderate creasing along the spine and two small surface tears on the front cover. This is a very attractive collection of early Playboy magazines. Total: 11 issues. Reserve $200. Estimate $500+.
