Addendum (10/10/17 - 5:15 pm): Please Note: There is a small chip along the top edge of the green gemstone that was not mentioned in the original catalog description. Joe Namath 1969 New York Jets Super Bowl III World Championship salesman's-sample ring produced by Balfour. It should be noted that we cannot recall having ever seen an actual 1969 New York Jets Super Bowl ring offered at auction, making it perhaps the rarest Super Bowl ring in the hobby today. As such, a salesman's sample (which is also exceedingly rare) is the next-best alternative available to collectors today. The top of the silver-colored ring features seven imitation diamonds (one large, six small) set upon a green gemstone. The lettering around the bezel reads "New York Jets World Champions." One shank features a representation of a Jets helmet, the name "Namath," a football with the number "12" engraved upon it, and the word "Poise." The opposite shank features a large AFL logo, an NFL logo, three engraved banners that read, respectively, "Super Bowl," Jets 16," Colts 17," and three additional engraved banners that reference the Jets AFL championship victory, which read, respectively, "Jets 27," "Raiders 23," "Champs." An engraving reading "Balfour 10K" appears on the interior band, as does the ring's inventory number "SA125412-8." The ring displays normal handling wear and is in Excellent to Mint condition overall. Approximate size:11. Weight: 35 grams. Reserve $500. Estimate (open).
