Green Bay Packers, Inc., check, dated September 5, 1959, signed by Hall of Fame football coach Vince Lombardi in his capacity as general manager. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, with the signature certified as “Authentic.” 1959 was Lombardi’s first season as coach of the Green Bay Packers, making this one of the earliest such checks we have seen. Lombardi’s signature (“Vincent Lombardi”) has been scripted in blue ink along the base and grades “9/10.” Also signed in blue ink (“10”) by Packers president Dominic Olejniczak. The check, made out to “Tom Saidock” in the amount of $50, has been endorsed by Saidock on the reverse. Saidock was defensive lineman who played with the Eagles in 1957 and later played in the AFL (1960-1962) with both the Titans and Bills. Saidock was in camp with the Packers during the summer of 1959, but was cut from the tem on September 15th, just prior to the start of the regular season. The check (8.25 x 3 inches) displays normal bank cancellation stamps and perforations (not affecting the Lombardi signature) and is in Excellent to Mint condition. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+.
