Rare full ticket to Game 7 of the 1960 World Series held at Forbes Field in Pittsburgh. Encapsulated and certified "Authentic" by PSA. This is one of only 9 full tickets from Game 7 of the 1960 World Series authenticated by PSA. Game 7 of the 1960 World Series will always be remembered for Bill Mazeroski's dramatic walk-off home run, which gave the Pirates their first World Championship since 1925. This is just the second example we have ever offered and we cannot recall having seen more than a few others at auction in the past fifteen years. In addition to the Pirates' World Championship, this ticket also commemorates Casey Stengel's final game as manager of the New York Yankees. Despite winning ten pennants and seven World Championships in twelve seasons with the Yankees, Stengel was unceremoniously fired after losing the 1960 Fall Classic, making it an especially bitter defeat for "The Old Professor." The ticket (7.25 x 2.25 inches) displays a chip in the upper left corner, pin holes in the upper right corner, light staining, moderate creases, and a few tiny edge tears. In Fair to Good condition overall. Reserve $500. Estimate (open).
