Scarce ticket stub issued for a Pittsburgh Pirates home game against the New York Mets on September 30, 1972, in which Roberto Clement registered his 3,000th hit. Unbeknownst to all at the time, it also marked the final game of Clemente’s career, as he died tragically in a plane crash just 3 months later. Graded GOOD 2(MK) by PSA. This is 1 of only 15 stubs from this game ever evaluated by PSA. The ticket stub (3 x 1.25 inches) bears a pencil notation on the reverse that reads “# 3000 Clemente,” which is the reason for the qualifier. A number of light creases are visible upon close inspection. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+.
