1987 Tidewater Tides International League Championship ring issued to pitcher Dwight Gooden, who started four games for the Tides that year during a rehabilitation stint at the beginning of the season. This ring comes with the provenance of having been consigned by a personal friend of Gooden, who gave it to our consignor many years ago as a gift. The top of the ring features the Mets' "NY" logo set upon a blue gemstone. The lettering around the bezel reads "Tidewater International League." One shank displays the engraved name "Gooden" above the Tides logo and an engraved banner listing the years of their 3 International League championships: "69 75 87." The opposite shank is lettered "New York" above the Mets team logo. There are no engravings or marks on the interior band. Gooden, who was arguably the best pitcher in baseball in 1987, went 3-0 with a 2.05 ERA in his four starts with the Tides. Although Gooden's time with the Tides was brief, his 3 wins did contribute to the team's eventual Championship that season, thereby earning him this ring. The gold-colored ring displays light tarnishing and is in Excellent condition overall. Approximate size: 11.25. Weight: 30 grams. Reserve $1,000. Estimate (open).
