One-sheet (27 x 41 inches) movie poster from the 1962 Columbia Pictures release Safe at Home, starring Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris. Although the film will never be found on any critic's list of top 100 sports movies, the studio's advertising department certainly hit a home run, as the colorful movie poster has long been recognized as a classic among collectors. The poster features an illustration picturing the famed "M&M Boys" together with child-star Bryan Russell, "The Luckiest Kid in the World." Safe at Home is one of the great display pieces of the era, and also represents one of the great values of all vintage Mantle-Maris memorabilia. The poster displays fold lines (as issued), minor adhesive residue along the borders, a number of very light surface wrinkles, and a few minor edge tears along the ends of the fold lines. It should be noted that nearly all of the aforementioned flaws are extremely unobtrusive and can be easily matted out, which would result in the poster having an overall Excellent to Mint appearance. Together with 2 Columbia press books (14 x 15.5 inches) for the film (one is in Fair to Good condition, the other is in Very Good condition). Total: 3 items (one-sheet poster and 2 press books). Reserve $200. Estimate $400+.
