Original wire photo of Mickey Mantle used in the production of his 1956 Topps #135 baseball card. The photo, which captures Mantle leaping into the outfield crowd in an attempt to make a catch, was used as the background image on Mantle’s 1956 Topps card. An NEA credit stamp on the reverse is dated “9-28-51,” indicating that this shot dates to Mantle’s rookie season. A few additional editorial notations also appear on the reverse. The photo (6.5 x 8.75 inches) remains in Excellent to Mint condition. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
