Exceedingly rare ticket stub from Lou Gehrig's record 2,130th consecutive game played, and the final Major League game of his career. Graded VG 3 by PSA. This is the only Lou Gehrig final game ticket listed in the PSA Population Report and we have cannot recall having seen another authentic example. Gehrig went 0-4 in the Yankees' 3-2 loss to the Washington Senators at Yankee Stadium on April 30th. The game was attended by 23,712 fans, but since Gehrig had given no indication that he would not be playing in the Yankees next game on May 2nd in Detroit, thereby ending his record streak of 2,130 consecutive games played, few, if any fans had reason to save the ticket. Fans had even less reason to believe that Gehrig would never play another game for the Yankees, as his fatal illness had yet to be diagnosed. The ticket (1.375 x 2.625 inches) displays a few very light creases and minor surface wear on the reverse. This is one of the most historically significant ticket stubs we have ever offered, made all the more desirable by its extreme rarity. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000++.
