Collection of fourteen original Charles Conlon news photos, dating from the 1920s, each depicting one or more Hall of Fame players. All of the photos feature Conlon's signature and/or credit stamp on the reverse, along with a number of additional pencil notations in his hand, including player identifications. These photos were all originally obtained at the sale of the Baseball Magazine archives at Christie's in 1996 and, as such, each bears the special hologram label from that sale on the reverse. Unless otherwise noted, all of the photos measure 6.5 x 8.5 inches. The collection is composed of the following: 1) Heinie Manush; 2) John McGraw and Billy Southworth; 3) George "High Pockets" Kelly; 4) Billy Southworth; 5) Fred Clarke and Bill McKechnie; 6) Frankie Frisch; 7) Goose Goslin; 8) Ross Youngs; 9) Max Carey (6 x 8 inches); 10) Kiki Cuyler; 11) Kiki Cuyler; 12) Kiki Cuyler (4.25 x 5 inches); 13) Kiki Cuyler (4.25 x 6.5 inches); and 14) Kiki Cuyler. Because these are all working press photos, the vast majority display flaws commensurate with their age and former use, including, but not limited to, edge tears, light creases, varying degrees of editorial outlining/shading, and tack holes. In Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Total: 14 photos. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
