Original news photo capturing Babe Ruth approaching home plate following his record-setting 60th home run in 1927. Accompanied by a LOA from PSA/DNA certifying it as an original Type 1 news photo. Babe Ruth certainly appreciated the magnitude of the moment, as he can clearly be seen smiling broadly as he is about to set foot on home plate. The historic image also captures Lou Gehrig as he extends his hand to Ruth in congratulations. The original Newspaper Enterprise Association (NEA) paper news caption, dated “9/30/27,” remains affixed to the reverse. A NEA credit stamp, dated “Oct 3 1927” also appears on the reverse. The photo (8.25 x 6 inches), which has been trimmed to its current dimensions, displays a small chip in the upper right corner, as well as a few tiny edge tears and creases.
