Small, 20-page soft-cover booklet titled The Story of the 1910 Pennant Winners - Life and Batting Average of Each Player of Both Teams Athletics and Chicago. This booklet, which lists no publisher, is exceedingly rare and the only example we have ever seen. Its rarity is due to both its fragile nature and, more important, its limited, regional distribution (it was probably only sold at Philadelphia-area newsstands during the week of the World Series). The cover features portrait images of each team's manager (Connie Mack and Frank Chance), while the interior pages display photos and short biographies for 22 members of the Philadelphia A's, including Mack, Baker, Collins, and Plank. Also included are biographies only (no photos) of 22 members of the Chicago Cubs, including Tinker, Evers, Chance, and Brown. One of the interior pages provides details regarding the Series, including dates and starting times for each of the games, prices for Philadelphia tickets, names of the umpires, and names of the official scorers. It also makes note that if a 7th game is needed, the location will be chosen by lot. The final page features a scoring sheet to record the totals for all 7 games. The booklet (3 x 6 inches) displays a tiny chip in the lower-right corner of the front cover and is otherwise in Excellent condition overall. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
