Pair of high-grade cards from the rare and unusual Grignon Chicago Cubs photographic postcard series issued in 1907. This set was produced to commemorate the Cubs' participation in the 1907 World Series and is one of the most popular baseball postcard issues of the era. Each card pictures a large teddy bear in a baseball pose with a small black-and-white portrait of a Cubs player in an upper corner. Each card has been graded and encapsulated by SGC (submitted by REA): Carl Lundgren (VG/EX 50, advertising for the Morrison Hotel and Boston Oyster House, local Chicago establishments, printed on the front) and Harry Steinfeldt (EX 60, advertising for the Morrison Hotel and Boston Oyster House, local Chicago establishments, printed on the reverse). The cards have never been mailed, and there is no writing on their traditional postcard reverses. This is a very sharp-looking pair of these rare and very distinctive postcards. Dimensions: 3.5 x 5.5 inches. Total: 2 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
