This amazing soft-cover book, published in 1988 as a promotional piece for Surf Laundry Detergent, features a total of 659 signatures on the interior, all of which belong to former New York Yankees players. One-hundred of the signatures are those of Hall of Fame players, including 16 by Mickey Mantle. The book, which is titled Baseball Card Collectibles New York Yankees, features a year-by-year synopsis of every Yankees season from 1952 to 1987, together with illustrations of all of the Yankees baseball cards issued by Topps for that respective year. Shortly after the book was published, one erstwhile collector attempted to acquire the signatures of as many players featured in the book as he possibly could, with each player signing either on or next to every one of his respective Topps cards. As a result, almost every player represented here has signed the book more than once. The vast majority of the signatures have been scripted in blue Sharpie (the remainder are in blue ink) and grade "9" or "10"). The Hall of Fame signatures in this book, with the number for each player noted in parentheses, are those of Mantle (16), Berra (16), Rizzuto (5), Mize (2), Ford (20), Slaughter (3), Roberts, Hunter (4), R. Jackson (9), Gossage (7), Perry, Winfield (10), Niekro (3), and Henderson (3).
