Photo of Satchel Paige as a member of the Atlanta Braves in 1968, signed by the Hall of Fame pitcher in black marker (grading "9/10") atop his image. Paige was 158 days shy of the mandatory 5 years of service needed to receive a Major League pension and the Braves hired him that year so that he could meet that requirement. Paige, at the age of 62, actually appeared in a few exhibition games with the Braves that spring, but the remainder of his time was served on the bench. After he put in his 158 days, Paige hung up his jersey for good. The photo (7.5 x 10 inches; visible dimensions) is in apparent Near Mint condition. Matted and framed to 11.25 x 14.25 inches. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Pre-certified by Steve Grad and Brian Sobrero/Beckett Authentication and SGC Authentic. James Spence/JSA also examined this photo but declined to provide a letter.
